Statewide Poll Reveals Solid Opposition to Tax Increases
For Immediate Release
Cheyenne, WY, September 14, 2016: OnMessage, Inc. recently conducted a large statewide survey on behalf of the Wyoming Liberty Group. The survey of 600 likely voters was stratified to reflect historic voter trends. The poll focused on the ongoing fiscal challenges facing Wyoming and asked voters to consider a variety of questions centered around possible tax increases, government transparency and waste, health care and education issues.
In one of the survey questions, a majority of Wyoming voters affirmed Wyoming can get control of the state budget without raising taxes by reforming state budgeting and cutting wasteful spending. Only 37% of voters believed modest tax increases were needed.
“What this poll question shows very clearly is that Wyoming citizens understand the need to reform state government and reign in spending as an appropriate answer to the state’s falling revenues,” said Susan Gore, Wyoming Liberty Group. “Wyoming does not have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem, and our common sense citizens instinctively understand that.”
The margin of error for this survey was +/- 4.00%.
