New Poll: Wyoming Opposes Obamacare's Medicaid Expansion

CHEYENNE, WY- OnMessage, Inc. recently conducted a statewide survey on behalf of the Wyoming Liberty Group.  The survey consisted of 600 likely voters and was stratified to reflect historic voter trends.  The poll focused on the ongoing fiscal challenges facing Wyoming and asked voters to consider a variety of questions centered around possible tax increases, government transparency and waste, health care and education issues.

Release - Concern about taxation disclosed in WyLiberty poll

Accountability Deficit Drove Construction Blowout

  • Revenue shortfall highlights danger of one group paying for the benefits of another. 

In its latest meeting, Wyoming’s legislative Revenue Committee discussed how to close the gap between state spending and state revenue for school capital construction. The bonanza funding the building blowout fizzled away, so what to do? Hike taxes to continue spending as usual or look for ways to spend less? As no one on the committee wanted to appear to be in favor of tax hikes, the discussion turned to the only viable option—spending reform. Too bad it took a crisis for legislators to focus on responsible spending.

Wyoming Liberty Group Plays Key Role in Reforming Civil Asset Forfeiture

CHEYENNE, WY –Wyoming Governor Matt Mead signed Senate File 46 this afternoon, which amends civil asset forfeiture under the Wyoming Controlled Substances Act. The bill passed the Wyoming Legislature with a final vote of 90-0. It implements a preliminary hearing for property owners, increases the evidence required to forfeit suspected drug property, and provides legal fees to property owners when the state fails to prove its case for forfeiture, among other changes.

Wyoming Legislator Frugality Scorecard Shows Mixed Performance

CHEYENNE, WY: The Wyoming Liberty Group released its Budget Frugality Scorecard today, which measures whether Wyoming legislators voted to increase or decrease the general appropriations budget through the budget amendment process. A Frugality Score measures the willingness of legislators to increase or decrease Wyoming’s deficit.
