Big government liberals are about taking from the rich and giving to the poor. Robin Hood and all that. At least this is what they want you to think, because often the reality is quite different.
Let’s take a case in point: The Chevy Volt. The average household income of a Chevy Volt owner is $170,000 per year. These are people who would otherwise be buying Mercedes and BMWs. Not exactly broke, are they?
Meanwhile, the Michigan and federal governments are spending up to $250,000 per car on subsidies. That’s money from your pocket going to build cars for people who make $170,000 a year.
Is this because they’re poor? No, it’s so they can show off their progressive green credentials by purchasing a $40,000 electric car. That’s $40,000 before the $7,500 income tax rebate, which is only useful if you have enough income to actually pay income taxes.
And, of course, it is entirely irrelevant that this is a prime demographic for Democratic Party fund raisers.

Just wanted to defend Robin Hood here: He did not take from the rich and give to the poor; he took back what the government had unfairly taken in taxes from the people and returned it to the people. Robin Hood would have been on your side here, Charles.
Christina, you are absolutely correct on the history. It is the looters who have turned Robin Hood around, from an heroic opponent of big government and tyranny, into an excuse for big government. And it is the symbol the looters have created which must be smashed.
