Wyoming Legislators Told to Say No to Washington-Style Health Care

CASPER: The Wyoming Liberty Group (WLG) called for a stop to Obamacare in Wyoming in testimony today before the Joint Labor, Health and Social Services Interim Committee.

“Instead of expanding socialized health care, Wyoming should create a competitive market in affordable health insurance by allowing the sale and purchase of insurance across state lines,” said Regina Meena, Policy Research and Legislative Affairs Associate at WLG. “This will give to the people of Wyoming a consumer-driven choice similar to what we already enjoy with auto, life, property and supplemental health plans.”

Ms. Meena appeared at the invitation of the Joint Labor, Health and Social Services Interim Committee. Her testimony stressed that Wyoming cannot afford to gamble with taxpayer money and establish an exchange, or expand Medicaid, before the U.S. Supreme Court rules on the constitutionality of forcing Americans to purchase health insurance. Ms. Meena also emphasized that if the governor establishes an exchange by Executive Order as other states have done, the governor, Legislature and Wyoming citizens will still lose.

“Expanding government-run health care programs will not reform the health care system,” said Ms. Meena.  “Creating affordable health insurance options through the free market can.”
