U.S. no longer alone in rejection of Kyoto Protocol

Finally tipping its hat to economic reality, the Canadian government signaled it may drop out of the Kyoto Protocol. The U.S. never signed the Kyoto Protocol and now Canada may join its club, together with Japan and Russia, and reject the Orwellian notion that people are somehow better off if government policies make them worse off.

The U.S. Government and Activist Technology

The federal government has uncloaked a previously secret program to provide pro-democracy activists in China and the Middle East with technology tools. One item would be a “panic button” that would wipe clean an activist’s mobile phone. The idea is to prevent the contents of the phone from falling into the hands of the local Stasi, whoever they might be.

Minerals Committee Covers Many Issues

The meeting’s content, originally planned for two days, was presented in one day to accommodate a tour. Committee members and guests took a tour the of energy projects in the Campbell County area. The result was a very packed meeting with delays in covering topics and frustrated presenters.

Cato Institute Gives Gov. Dave a ‘D’

Gov. Dave Freudenthal has ranked near the bottom of the Cato Institute’s Fiscal Policy Report Card on America’s Governors: 2008.

Freudenthal was among 13 governors to receive a D, and only Montana Gov. Brian Scheweitzer ranked lower on the D list. Three governors received As, 14 earned Bs, eight earned Cs and eight earned Fs.
