Science and Retractions

Retraction Watch, http://retractionwatch.com/, is a blog that monitors scientific and other journals for retractions. It sounds really simple, and the basic concept is. But the implications are fascinating.

Repeatability is key to the scientific method. If I report results from an experiment, I should report in sufficient detail that you can reproduce my experiment exactly. And you should get the same results, within the inevitable instrumentation error. If you get a very different result, something is seriously wrong.

A scientific journal should make every reasonable effort to ensure that published papers are accurate. Peer review at its best is part of this process, but has its critics. Peer review and the editorial process don’t catch everything. Occasionally an error slips through and a paper is retracted.

New Poll: Wyoming Opposes Obamacare's Medicaid Expansion

CHEYENNE, WY- OnMessage, Inc. recently conducted a statewide survey on behalf of the Wyoming Liberty Group.  The survey consisted of 600 likely voters and was stratified to reflect historic voter trends.  The poll focused on the ongoing fiscal challenges facing Wyoming and asked voters to consider a variety of questions centered around possible tax increases, government transparency and waste, health care and education issues.

Majority of Wyoming Citizens Support the Taxpayer Protection Pledge

In a recent poll conducted on behalf of the Wyoming Liberty Group, Wyoming taxpayers overwhelmingly supported our Taxpayer Protection Pledge by saying they would be much more likely to vote for a candidate who had signed the pledge.  In the same poll, voters said they believed Wyoming could get it's deficit spending under control through cuts in state spending and not through tax increases.  Listen in as Charlie Katebi talks with Amy Edmonds about these important topics in this week's podcast.
